Traumatic brain injury is associated with ongoing headache months after both mild and moderate/severe head injury compared to arm injured controls. A cohort study by Blume et al published in Pediatrics Vol. 129 No. 1 January 1, 2012 pp. e31 -e39 (doi: 10.1542/peds.2011-1742) examined prevalence of headache 3 and 12 months after head injury and found increase risk of ongoing headache after injury was related to injury severity, time after injury, gender and age with girls being at higher risk.
