Wilson et al report in Arch Dis Child on the use of opportunistic health screening using the HEADSS assessment in young people admitted as surgical inpatients to an adolescent ward in a tertiary children's hospital. Areas of concern requiring intervention were identified in 30% of those screened however uptake was low with only 16% of all young people admitted to the ward as surgical inpatients during the study period being screened.
