Howard et al from Great Ormond Street Hospital, London provide a useful review of neuropathic pain and it's management in the January 2014 issue of Archives of Disease in Childhood. They reflect on the difference between neuropathic and chronic pain, the common circumstances in which neuropathic pain occurs and the range of therapies available. Much of the management is extrapolated from adult studies and practice with fews studies including children or young people. The authors also discuss age appropriate pain assessment tools and call for more research into effective therapies for children and young people.
