RCPCH Young People's Health in Palestine Opportunity

The RCPCH Palestinian child health programme was initiated by Professor David Baum in 1999 and is described on the RCPCH website (currently under revision) and in the Lancet http://www.thelancet.com/journals/lancet/article/PIIS0140-6736(09)60104-5/fulltext. The programme commenced as a Diploma in Palestinian Child Health for GPs and primary care nurses, with 12 modules taught over two years using self directed learning, as a partnership between UK and Palestinian paediatricians. After three successful DPCH courses, the programme has been accredited as an MA in child health at Al Quds university and the new course (still aimed at primary care doctors and nurses) will begin in January 2013.
In the MA programme there will be a new elective module on adolescent health and we are seeking a UK paediatrician to work with a Palestinian counterpart to develop the teaching material. It is likely that there would be a visit to the occupied Palestinian territories during the module and support will be available in relation to the teaching style. The work will be mainly conducted over the internet, and this is a remarkable opportunity to assist a very needy country and develop amazing new relationships.
