The AYPH have published a new research briefing today, on the role of parents in supporting young people with mental health problems. Our survey showed that parents felt ignored, helpless at finding support for their children and distressed by long waiting times. Over a third had resorted to private counselling because they struggled to find any other kind of service, and 41% felt excluded buy the agencies involved in helping their young people. But parents want to be part of the solution, and made a number of suggestions to improve the situation.
